Love/Hate Tag

Hiya girlies! So I wasnt actually tagged to do this but the gorgeous Kate at Lipgloss and Me did this and I thought i'd do it too :)

LIPS

*Love*
Simplicity. Sometimes a slick of Vaseline or Carmex looks better on me than mad lippies and glosses.

*Hate*
Matte lipsticks. I was a fan but they just dry my lips out wayyy too much. Revlon Nude Attitude im looking at you!

FACE

*Love*
Highlighters. MAC By Candlelight and Sephora Highlighter in particular. I dunno why but I love the shimmer they give to my face!

*Hate*
Revlon Blushers. NO PIGMENTATION DAMMIT! And what is with the stupid brush that comes with them like.

HAIR

*Love*
Umberto Gianni Products. The Curl Friends Scrunching Jelly is ACTUALLY the best smelling thing in the world.

*Hate*
My hair at the moment. I have dyed it quite a bit over the years and I want it to be healthy again but im so afraid of getting it stripped :/

EYES

*Love*
Falsies. I love ELFs false lashes although I did mention in a recent haul video that I didnt like them. This is only because of the glue that came with them. Theyre the perfect shape, but instead of using them with the glue supplied (which is a bit crap), I use them with the glue that is supplied with the Girls Aloud lashes, (which is a bit awesome). Perfecto.

*Hate*
Eyeliner. Pain in the arse when youve done your entire eye and your liq/gel liner does not want to draw on straight and it wrecks the whole eyeeee!

BODY

*Love*
Fake tan. St. Moriz, yes, I love you.

*Hate*
Fake tan. Yes, its a love hate relationship.

This was just a bitta fun :)
Im gonna tag
Ellie
Nicola
Katie
Steph

Have a good week ladies :) xx

Healthy Appetite - Indulgent Foods that are good for you!

Hiya girlies, so this post will be a looot different to what I usually post.

Although I adore makeup and fashion, ive decided to post about something else im quite passionate about, and thats food!
Many of you might not know this, but I am qualified chef! Ive worked in lots and lots of kitchens and am currently in my final year of a BA degree in Culinary Arts. Random I know. :P
Many bloggers devote their entire blogs to writing about food, and while the main focus of my blog is fashion and beauty related, I thought it wouldnt hurt to post about food every now and again :) I mean who doesnt love food?!

I am really interested in nutrition and thats why my post is called 'Healthy Appetite'. Many girls are keen on dieting and eating right, but I can honestly say this is not going to be me lecturing about whats good for you and what isnt. This is going to be about comfort food, indulgent food, rustic food and just plain and simply good food.
Yesterday I made a chocolate and orange mousse as a simple but tasty dessert to finish a lovely meal that I cooked for my boyfriend. It was so easy and tasty and good for you that it inspired me to write a post about it.
Many people aren't bothered making desserts and chocolate mousse is one of those things that sort of scares people.

It honestly could not be simpler. Dieters automatically shun it because, well, its chocolate, but I use the best quality chocolate, dark chocolate, and this type of chocolate is actually good for you :)

Milk chocolate contains more sugar and less cocoa bean, making it more popular, but dark chocolate contains less sugar, hence why it is so bitter.
Chocolate mousse is so versatile, can be combined with a variety of flavourings, is simple to prepare and can be made in advance.

Heres mine:

Chocolate and Orange Mousse
Serves 6

You'll need:
250g Dark Choc - I used Bournville!
3 Eggs
60g Caster Sugar
250ml Cream
2 Oranges

1. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a small saucepan of simmering water. (You could just melt it in the microwave but be careful that it doesnt burn!) Cool.
2. Beat the eggs with the sugar in a separate bowl until pale, frothy, and increased in volume. Grate in the zest of one of the oranges and squeeze in the juice of half of that orange.
3. Lightly whip the cream in a separate bowl.
4. Pour the cooled chocolate into the egg mix, and gently mix to combine.
5. Fold in the cream.
6. Segment the remaining orange and put 1 or 2 segments in the bottom of each of 6 small glasses. (I like to use tea cups :) )
7. Pour the chocolate mousse over the segments and chill in the fridge until set. (This usually takes about 2-4hrs).
8. Garnish with a sprig of mint et voila! Chocolate and Orange Mousse :)

It honestly tastes like a Terry's Chocolate Orange :) Ive done looooads of variations of this dessert too.
- Omit the orange and add 1tbsp dark rum to the egg mix to make Chocolate and Rum Mousse
- Omit the orange and add 1tsp peppermint essence to the egg mix to make Chocolate and Mint Mousse (Tastes like After Eights!)
- Omit the orange and fold in raspberries or white chocolate chips to the egg mix to make either Chocolate and Raspberry Mousse or Dark and White Chocolate Mousse :)
- Sprinkle some toasted chopped hazelnuts or pistachios over the top for a nutty flavour :)

The variations are endless!

If you like the sound of this decadent dessert you should definitely try it for yourself. Its seriously comforting and light enough to finish a big meal.

Hope you enjoyed! :) xx

10 Trends To Get You Through Autumn!

Hi girlies :)

Now that the summer has gone it is time to invest in some new wardobe staples! I love this time of year, I love when the colours and patterns change for Autumn and prints and fabrics go from bright, colourful and vivid to calm, warm and cosy.
I love that with the A/W wardrobe you can create shapely feminine silouettes and soft sophisticated looks, and this year is no different! Here are some of my staples that I will definitely be sporting until spring comes around again :)

1. CAMEL

2. SHEARLING

3. LEOPARD

4. RED

5. TAPERED TROUSERS

6. 70'S

7. FAUX FUR

8. MINIMALISM

9. MILITARY

10. TWARTAN

That last one is a name I just made up spur of the moment; its a mix between tweed and tartan! :P

What will you be wearing for Autumn?

:) x

Inspiration.

I hate slumps. Be it diet slumps, school/college slumps, work slumps. You know those slumps you get when you're just not motivated to do anything at all? When you've been eating right but you wake up one day and aren't bothered to exercise, or you just want to binge on everything in the fridge? When you've been studying for exams then decide to screw the exams? When you've been working full time day in day out at a job you hate and decide youve had enough?

Thats when you need inspiration. You need to find something that makes you think about or remember what you love in life, why you are who you are and the things that excite you.

Call me shallow, but for me, its a new pair of shoes, a delicate cream pussybow blouse, a designer clutch, or a new beauty product.

Since I started making videos on youtube i've really gotten into makeup. Its amazing to see other girls like you and find out what other girls like you love and use. I barely do tutorials because of the quality of my camera. But I love makeup. And Ive decided to pursue a career in makeup artistry. When ive completed my degree of course.

Here are some images that inspire me.

A picture can tell a thousand words. It can bring back memories. Or make new ones.

Girl Crush - Dakota Fanning

Although Dakota is only 16, she totally rocked the character of it-girl and lead singer Cherie Currie in the new film The Runaways about a 70's girl band called, well, the Runaways.

She totally rocked Bowie in the film aswell which of course is an added bonus. :)

Soft and delicate hippie 70's trends are back in for Fall/Autumn, but I was inspired by the grungey 70s look in this film. She looks feminine and pretty, but cool and sexy at the same time. The blonde hair has made me want to dye mine back that colour, yes? no? Hm.
Anyways, shes beautiful.
What celebities inspire you?

Lipstick of the Moment

Heylo lovelies :)

This is just a quick post to show you all my lippie of the moment :)

Its a Limited Edition from the Hello Kitty collection from MAC called 'Strayin'. Its a hot pink frost with pink, green and silver shimmer.
Here it is:

Although it is quite the statement lipstick and I never thought I'd have the confidence to wear it, I spotted it the other day lurking in my lippie drawer and had a Katy Perry moment.
I like to think it suits me, worn with a neutral eye. :)
Do you have any statement lipsticks that you've rediscovered!?
A xx :)
